O Eternal Word,
only-begotten Son of God,
I beg of You,
teach me to be truly generous.
Teach me to serve You as You deserve,
to give without counting the cost,
to fight without heeding wounds,
to labor without seeking rest,
to sacrifice myself
without looking for any reward
except the knowledge of
having done Your holy will.
